Baglamukhi Maha Mantra

Understanding the Maha Mantra

The Baglamukhi Maha Mantra is an extended and more powerful version of the Mool Mantra. It includes additional descriptions of the goddess as "Pitambaradharini" (wearer of yellow garments) and "Khadgamundadharini" (holder of sword and skull), which invoke her complete form and powers.

This mantra is considered extremely potent and is used for more serious spiritual practices and rituals. It is particularly effective for those facing severe opposition, complex legal battles, or dangerous enemies.

The Maha Mantra is traditionally used in advanced sadhanas (spiritual practices) and is often recommended by spiritual guides for specific challenging situations.

Meaning of the Mantra

Om Hleem - The sacred syllable and the beej (seed) mantra of the divine feminine energy

Bagalamukhi - Invoking the name of the goddess

Pitambaradharini - The one who wears yellow garments

Khadgamundadharini - The one who holds a sword and a skull

Sarvadushtanam - Of all evil-doers or enemies

Vacham - Speech

How to Chant

  1. 1

    Preparation

Take a bath and wear clean, preferably yellow clothes. Sit facing East or North on a yellow cloth. Set up an altar with a picture or idol of Maa Baglamukhi, and light a ghee lamp and incense. For this powerful mantra, it's recommended to perform a proper sankalpa (intention) before starting.

  2. 2

    Time

The best time for chanting is during Brahma Muhurta (early morning before sunrise) or after sunset. Tuesday and Ashtami (8th day of lunar fortnight) are considered especially auspicious. For this Maha Mantra, the midnight hour is also considered powerful.

  3. 3

    Method

Use a yellow rosary (mala) made of turmeric or sandalwood. Chant the mantra 108 times daily. For special purposes, maintain a discipline of chanting for 21, 41, or 108 consecutive days. Due to the power of this mantra, it's recommended to receive proper initiation from a qualified guru.

  4. 4

    Visualization

While chanting, visualize Goddess Baglamukhi in her complete form - dressed in yellow, seated on a golden throne, holding a club in her right hand and the tongue of a demon in her left, with a sword and skull also present. Imagine your enemies or obstacles being completely paralyzed and neutralized by her divine power.

  5. 5

    Offerings

Offer yellow flowers, yellow sweets, turmeric, and jaggery (gur) to the goddess. For this powerful mantra, additional offerings like yellow fruits, yellow cloth, and special yellow sweets made with besan (gram flour) are recommended.
